Peas are Planted!

There are many vegetables that thrive in the cool Spring weather.  One favorite is peas.  There are a few different varieties such as traditional, snow and snap.  Its helpful to give your peas a jump start by soaking them overnight in water before planting. A seed needs to be thoroughly  soaked before it can germinate.  Plant 8 pea seeds in one 12" square. As your pea plants come up, provide a support for them and they will grow better.  I like to use our nylon netting on a vertical frame.  I will talk about other cool weather crops such as spinach, lettuces, chives, chard, onions, carrots, beets, broccoli and cauliflower in the next post.
