Plant a Fall Garden Now
Now is the time to plant a fall garden for the vegies that love cool weather. They are peas, spinach, lettuces, chard, carrots, beets, onions, broccoli, cabbage, cilantro, and parsley. They will sprout quickly in warm weather. Keep the sprouts watered well and even shaded on hot days. When harvesting lettuce, beets and chard, do not cut the entire plant. Just cut off the outside leaves to use and the head will keep producing.

Summer Box Garden Tips
We hope you are harvesting squash, tomatoes, beans and cucumbers about now. Be sure to water your box garden often, every day or two may be necessary. Keep a bucket of sun warmed water right next to your box. In very hot weather, place grass clippings around your plant to help retain moisture. Adding a trowel full of compost to your plant will also strengthen it and boost its growth. Enjoy those delicious fresh vegetables!
